What Would American Jesus Do?

I started this blog for people who, like me, have "no doubt that America has a special relationship with God."  (Jordan Sekulow, American Center for Law and Justice).  The birth of our great nation is  directly linked  to the birth of our savior.   We are One Nation formed “Under God” by pious Christians who needed to find a place where they would not be persecuted for praising Jesus.  The early Pilgrims were Christians, and so were our founding fathers. That great Revolutionary Patriot Patrick Henry said, “It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians; not on religions, but on the gospel of Jesus Christ.” President Woodrow Wilson said, “America was born a Christian nation.”  Click here for a lot of other great quotes by famous patriots.  As the New Testament says, “The government authorities that exist have been established by God."  (Romans 13:1).  This applies to the United States of America.

If Jesus were born today, he would surely choose to be an American.  Our country was founded so he could rule on earth.  He has made us the greatest and strongest country on the planet, not because we have vast natural resources or a legal system founded on the rule of law, but because Jesus wants it that way.

For this reason, every decision facing our political leaders today – whether domestic, international, social, economic, or political – should be analyzed through the lens of the question:  What Would American Jesus Do?

I invite readers to comment and give their best answers to that question.  Citations to Scripture are not necessary, but are encouraged.  Citations to the New Testament will be especially helpful.  Citations to the actual Words of Jesus in the Gospels are almost certain to enlighten!
