Catholics React to Insurance Rule |
So, What Would American Jesus Do About Health Insurance for Contraceptives?
There can be little doubt that American Jesus would oppose this outrageous disrespect for human life. As Bishop William Lori, chair of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops' Ad Hoc Committee on Religious Liberty, told the National Catholic Reporter, "the Founding Fathers saw" that religious freedom includes tolerance. When we force religious employers to insure their employees for such health care, he believes, "We're pretty far way from the genius that inspired the founding of this country."

Jesus Refuses Health Care to the Woman at the Rock |
The Founding Fathers would never have allowed health treatment for contraceptives or birth control. Unlike slavery and capital punishment, which the Founding Fathers expressly included in the original Constitution and were therefore inspired by Jesus, health care is different. Government has no business protecting the health and welfare of its citizens. American Jesus would fight this religious intolerance, and would stand up for the rights of all religious institutions to tell their employees what kind of health care they cannot have.
