WWAJD About Praying Away the Gay?

Michelle Bachmann Prays
Not To Be Gay
The Nation and national media outlets are reporting that counselors at presidential candidate Michelle Bachmann's Christian counseling center, Bachmann & Associates, try to "cure" homosexuals by urging them to pray and read the Bible.  Her husband who runs the clinic, Marcus Bachmann, reportedly advises parents that gays are "barbarians" who need to be "educated" and "disciplined" for their "sinful nature."

Bachmann denies the assertion about the suggested treatment, i.e., praying, while acknowledging that if someone comes into his clinic as a homosexual "and they want to stay homosexual," then he doesn't have a problem with that.  It is their choice to stay that way.

So, What Would American Jesus Do About Praying Away the Gay?

Well, I think American Jesus would totally approve of the Bachmanns' clinic and its approach.  Jesus had a lot to say about homosexuality.  Well, actually he never said anything about it, but he did have a lot to say about the power of prayer.  James 5:16.  Prayer is the most powerful force in the universe.  A good prayer can start and stop rain.  James 5:17-18.  A good prayer can impregnate old women.  Luke 1:5-13. A good prayer can cure cancer and win football games.  It can raise money for God's favorite Baptist Church.  If it can do these things, it can certainly overcome a person's genetic makeup, or whatever it is that causes homosexuals to choose to be gay.

And it could probably balance the federal budget, but apparently no one is praying hard enough for that yet.
