WWAJD About Proselytizing Parolees?

Prisoners Praying for
Christian Re-entry Assistance
Hallelujah!  So Kansas Governor Sam Brownback has announced that his Department of Corrections will work with a Christian faith-based re-entry program for parolees.  But Alex Luchenitser, a lawyer with Americans United for Separation of Church and State, said such programs might coerce people into religion and cut out those who resist. “The states need to provide nonreligious re-entry programming that all inmates can comfortably take part in,” he said.

So, What Would American Jesus Do About Proselytizing Parolees?

A Successful
Re-Entry Program
I think American Jesus would be all in favor of providing faith-based assistance to prisoners being released from jail.  After all, he did a little redeeming himself while on the cross, Luke 23:39-43.  But only so long as the assistance provided is Christian, like the group Governor Brownback supports, and is based on the Gospel.  We don't want our parolees to be exposed to non-Christian faiths like Islam or Hinduism or Mormanism and follow a god that is not legitimately American.  If that happened, they might not be able to integrate properly back into our Christian society.  They might start acting like criminals again.  Or worse yet, liberals.
