WWAJD About Inaugurals?

"We're a nation of faith."
-- Sam Brownback
The AP reports that new Kansas Governor Sam Brownback was sworn in with a number of events that resembled a "Christian revival meeting."  Brownback declared the day of his swearing as a "gift from God." During the ceremonies, a room was reserved for prayer and celebration of the Lord. The Topeka Capital-Journal reported that the program was sponsored by Capitol Commission, a Christian ministry whose mission is "to reach the Capitol community for Christ," in conjunction with the Kansas Family Policy Council and Concerned Women for America.

Some liberal groups claim that Brownback crossed the church-state line by doing so, thereby "cloaking his rule in religion."

So, WWAJD About Filling Inaugural Celebrations With His Teachings?

Jesus Swears In Political Leaders
Jesus loved parties.  "Let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival."  (Colossians 2:16).   He enjoyed eating and drinking.  (Matthew 11:19).  He miraculously turned water into wine at the wedding feast at Cana.  (John 2:1-11).  He also made appearances and taught where Roman and Jewish government and political leaders gathered for celebration.  (citation needed.)

I therefore think American Jesus would want all inaugural parties to praise him.  Doing so reminds us that our government officials like Governor Brownback were elected as "a gift from Jesus." Unless they are officials who do not believe in Jesus' reign on earth, in which case they were voted in by the agents of Satan, and therefore are not gifts from God.  You can tell the difference by whether Jesus is invited to be part of the inaugural.
