WWAJD About the Clean Water Restoration Act?

California Senator Barbara Boxer has reported Senate Bill 787, the “Clean Water Restoration Act.”  The purpose of the bill is apparently to restore the Clean Water Act to its original strength after being supposedly weakened by Supreme Court decisions interpreting it narrowly. Opponents of the bill fear that it will extend federal government control over more waterways, give bureaucrats authority to enforce treaties that protect birds, fish, and other wildlife, and slow down the granting of mineral resource exploitation permits.

So, What Would American Jesus Do About the Clean Water Restoration Act?

American Jesus would oppose this law.  In fact, he would not want a Clean Water Act of any kind.   John the Baptist baptized Jesus and other people by dunking them in the Jordan River.  (Matthew 3:13-17) The Jordan River therefore became polluted with their sins.  Christians use water as a means of washing away original sin. (Mark 1:4) A truly Christian nation would therefore use its rivers and waterways to wash away the sins of its citizens. Our federal government should therefore let us wash away our filth -- agricultural runoff, industrial chemicals, mine talings, and other noxious pollution -- like John the Baptist did and leave our rivers alone.
